At 47,000 sq.ft. this home occupies an entire city block & was once one of the largest private residences in the U.S. St. Elizabeth’s was built as a boarding school in 1865. In 1870, it became an orphanage for girls run by the Daughters of St. Vincent de Paul. The nuns moved out in 1989. In 1993, Anne Rice purchased St. Elizabeth’s and made it her home. In 2004, it was converted once again, this time into condos. #nola#historylesson via @beyondbourbonst
